AMUSEMENTS.

"THE FROLICS." COMING TO NEW PLYMOUTH. This talented and artistic company, who open their season in the Theatre Royal on Friday night, arc a frolicsome family of fun-makers and singers of Concerted items—sixtettes, iquartct'tes., etc. Happily, we are assured their re pertoire is entirely new and original to the Dominion, and in this respect we are fortunate in hearing " The Frolics" first, since their Australian tour succeeds that of the Dominion. The charming arrangement of "The Frolics'" programme immediately suggests a newness that instantly attracts and indicates the superiority this combination claim for their production. The items individually are said to be new, and should provide gratifying interest and amusement. Of the gentlemen, "Mr. Headlam and a piano," and Mr. Courtcnay Ford, the comedian-basso," arc spoken of as sufficient to Yprovide an evfcning's entertainment in themselves. Their strong numbers are concerted v«ealisations, sketches, piano monologues, and stories. Mr. Headlam is one of London's leading humorists and .society entertainers, who has been giving recitals at the Queen's Hall. Miss Alice Vaughan, late of the Manhattan Tilc"atre, New York, is the soprano, whose voice is described as a leggerio of great purity, and as a soloist she ranks well to the fore. Her Friday night contributions may lie looked forward to ns a treat in store. Miss Ida Yerex (.Max Cohen Opera Company, New York) is spoken of as the darntv damsel of the party and is styled the soubrette. Her actions and vocalisation are graceful and captivating. The tenor contributions of Mr. Sphvvn Reeves (MoodyManuers Opera Company) can bp anticipated with liberality, since this gentleman's silvery voice is sure to endear itself to many. Miss Jenny Bell has her share of the programme to uphold, also Paula de Vries at the piano, 'xhe box plan is now on view at Collier's, ■where early application for seating is advised.
