WORK FOR THE UNEMPLOYED
100 ADDITIONAL MKX OS STUATFORD. LINE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Labor Department is sending 20 bushmen from Wellington on Monday to work on the Waitotara block, while other parties from different parts of the Dominion arc following in the course of a few days. In addition to these 10 men are being sent to the Te Karaka railway works at Gisborne, 100 to the Stratford railway works, 100 to the Broken River end of the Midland railway, and 40 to the Nelson end. These men will be despatched in a few days. So far as possible they will be sent to the work nearest to the districts in which they reside. It is exported that work now available will meet the requirements of the bulk of the men at present idle.
AUCKLAND'S WORKLESS. Auckland, Last Night. Instructions have 'been received by the local agent of the Labor Bureau (Mr J. Shanaglian) to send a limited number of married men to the railway works at Gisborne. So far about twenty names have been taken, and the men will be sent on by the East Coast boat cither to-morrow or Tuesday. A large number of men called at the office of the Department to-day seeking for latest information as to what is being done to meet the difficulty. Altogether there are 280 unskilled laborers on the books desiring employment and 100 representing Other trades.
