TIMBER COMMISSION
UNANIMOUS FINDING ANTICIPATED. By Telegraph.—-Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. The report of the Timber Commission was .signed ixnil forwarded to the Government to-day. The Post understands that an unanimous finding has been come to after a series of compromises. It is understood the Commission will find that .the importation of Oregon has not menaced the local industry, and that it will be recommended that long lengths of Oregon be admitted free, and the duty on the shorter lengths (which compete with local timber) bo increased by Is per 100 feet. It is understood the Commission will also find that the prices of timber locally are not unduly higji£ ! that railway freights on timber should be reduced, that more up-to-date machinery for hauling logs 3jc installed by millers, and that re-afforestation should be more vigorously pushed on by tho Government,
