UNEMPLOYMENT
BUSH-FELLING WORK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Tuesday. Fifty men will leave Wellington next week for Waitotara to do bush falling at 30s per acre. Mr. Collins, of the Labour Department, is at Waitotara making arrangements for the reception of the men, who are to be controlled by tile Labour Department. GOVERNMENT PROVIDING WORK.' Wellington, Tuesday. Arrangements are being made for t'ae employment of some six hundred unemployed on bush-felling and road works, including on? hundred from Auckland on the Gisborne railway, one hundred on the Stratford-Ongaruke railway, on; hundred from Wellington on other railway works, one hundred from Canterbury on Broken River sections of the Midland railway, twenty on the Catlins River railway, 'and forty on the Nelson end of the Midland railway. Additional hands are also being put on the DunedinMosgivl duplication. Altogether, about 250 bush-fullers are required, and qualified applicants number 100. Preference is to be given to married men.
