SCULLING.

WORLD'S CHAMPIONSHIP. • By Association. Wanganui, Friday. 51r. R. C'oonibes, editor of the Sydney Uefenee, visited Arnst's camp this morning and had a chat with the champion. from what the visitor saw, he is satisfied Arn.-t is just ahout in the same i'orm as he was when he won the championship. His weight is practically th'« same,„and he in sculling quite is well a.> '" Deceuilier last. Moreover, Arnst hi'."usclf is well pleased with his prospects, #ad very confident he can defeat Webb, though he fully anticipates a hard race this time. Mr. Coombes, savs he was disappointed with Webb's showing in the last race, in which he <lisplaved nothing like the pace he did •on this Parraraatta. Webb is., in his opinion, now much improved, and has got back to his old form. He is inclined to think Arnst will win after a most exciting struggle between the two best scullers seen for many years. Wanganui, Last Night. There is little to report regarding the sculling training operations. Arnst, who now scales 13.2, covered the two miles at a swinging pace this morning. His strokes are very powerful, and he drives the boat through the water in convincing manner. Webb was out on the river, but did not do heavy work. He is now fit and simply wants to keep as' he is till Tuesday. Judges differ ra the opinion as to the chances of both men. Those who are intimately jawociated with Arnst tip him as a sure winner, while the Webb party, knowing ithe'rr man's performances, are equally danguine.
