• CIGAREXTE-JIAKIXG. By Wegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. , In the Police Court, this morning (George" Moody, a tobacconist, was charged with making cigarettes by hand without having a warrant to do so. The Collector of Customs said defendant had employed a cigarette-maker to make «igarettes in his window during Industries Week. The Customs looked upon the manufacture without warrant as k serious matter, as when tobacco was cut up it was impossible to trace where it came from. Defendant pleaded ignorance of the law on the matter, and «aid he had made no attempt to make <igarette3 secretly. He was fined £lO and costs. AI/LEGED FAILURE TO KEEP . PROPER BOOKS. Dunvdin, Last Night. In tie City Poliee Court to-day, before Mr. H. Y. Widdowson, S.M., Louis Morris was charged that on the Ist May le was adjudged bankrupt, and that "three years before the commencement of such bankruptcy he did fail to keep such books of account as arc usual ana proper in business carried on by him, or sufficiently set forth his business transactions so as to disclose his financial position. Accused was committed s for trial.
