Licensing Committee to-day, eight applications for publicans' licences were refused as follows: Adelaide (Colin Campbell), Caledonian (J. Race), Sc-otia (J. J. ltougihan), Douglas (J. Geddes), Shades (J. liarelay), Duke of Edinburgh (D.. McKenzie), Great' A'oythern (J. Twomcy), and Queen's (J. Crane).. The following bix applications are under consideration:—Central (Havdon), Gladstone (Collins), Wains (Binstead),Prinze of Wales, ((irav), Royal Albert (AleGavin), Rainbow (Gleeson), It is understood two of these applications will be refused. Applications for bottle licenses will be taken on Wednealav. All applications for wholesale licenses and the application for packet licenses for the Manuka were granted. TUIARU. Tiniaru, Lust Xight. At the annual meeting of the Tiniaru Licensing Committee to-day, the police : report was favoraible in all cases except ; three, wherein ancient wooden buildings . were reported to lie out of date.
