V CRUSHED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. . Christehurch, Last Sight. At Bangiora this afternoon an unmarried middle-aged man, named FranK Ooates, met with an accident which proved fatal. He was topping a pinttree about twenty-five feet from the ground when a gust of wind unexpectedly broke the top, and he fell beneath it. The foot of the tree fell on his thigh, smashing it from the groin to the knee.' Doctors attended him and amputated the fog, but he succumbed. ——— v A FATAL FALL. Christelmrch, Last -Night. An old lady named lira. Harriott Cook died to-day from injuries received by falling off a tram ear in Ferry Road oil the 3rd inst. Deceased alighted before the car stopped. FOUND DYING. C'liristehurch, Lust Night. ' A man named John Ernest Woodrough was found in a dying condition at the top of the Port Hills yesterday afternoon, and died shortly afterwards. He had set out earlier in the day for a walk on the hills.
