THE BOOT TRADE DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Association Wellington, Last Night The conference beeween represent iiives of manufacturers and employees in the boot trade, with Mr. P. Hally, Conciliation Commissioner, in the chair, lasted for several hours yesterday. It is understood that Mr. Halley succeeded in bringing the parties closer together than has been the case since the dispute was initiated some months ago. .Several compromises and suggestions were framed for submission to the Arbitration Court. Exact details are of a confidential nature and for the use of the Court only, but it is understood that the issues jiave been so narrowed down that a. satisfactory awtfird by the court is practically assured. Mr. Hally was warmly thanked by the parties for his assistance and the ability displayed by him in connection with the proceedings.
