A BOY PUNISHED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 28. At tUe Supreme Court, Dennis Kicnartl Dane, a boy of W years of age. wlio had been remanded for sentence for rape, was ordered to reeeive ten 'strokes of the birch,, and be imprisoned for a month and then sent to the Burnham Industrial School until he reaches the age of at least twenty-one.

DUNEDIN SESSIONS. Dunedin, Last Nignt. The Supreme. Court criminal sittings were completed to-day. Matthew Christie Was sentenced to six months' imprisonment and ordered to receive 15 lashes for indecent assault on a young gifl, and Sidney McDonald" was acquitted on tile same charge. It was not shown that McDonald was a party with Christie to the offence. Michael O'Donnell was found not guilty of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by bribery. No evidence, was offered on a second charge, and his Honor directed thai a verdict of not guilty sfoould be returned.

AUCKLAND SESSIONS. Auckland, Last Night, At the Supreme Court to-day, William rlnox pleaded guilty 1 to breaking and entering the premises of Robert Carr, and was remanded for sentence. Roland Oliver Davtes, Mr horse-stealing at Kaeo, received a sentence of two years.

OWNERSHIP OF A RACEHORSE. Palmerston N., Last Night. In a very complicated ease, in which William Joseph Sklenaars sued Frederick Robinson for possession of the racehorse RangDiaeta or its value, £.400, as well as £220 winnings and £IOO damages, was heard before Mr. Justice Chapman and a jury. After three and a lialf hours' retirement, they found that plain, tiff was the lawful owner, and entitled to £4OO value and £IOO damages. Judgment was deferred till Monday for argument on legal points, the horse to be in the,hands of a, receiver in the meantime.
