THE TAIHAPE AFFAIR. By Telegraph.—Press Association, Taihape, Last Night. The hearing of the charge against Frederick Oarlick, a laborer, of the attempted murder of Amos Chatfield 011 the night of February 22, by throwing him over the bank of the Hautupu stream, occupied the Justices all yesterday and until this afternoon. Accused and Chatfield had been in Taihape, and the affair happened 011 their way homo. Both had been drinking. Accused reserved his defence and was committed for trial.
