TARANAKI RIFLES' BALL.
The Taranaki Rides ball, to be held iu the Theatre Royal this evening, is the first public ball of the year, ami as such should be largely patronised ov the dancing community. The bull committee has devoted considerable time to the perfecting of the arrangements, and we are assured that everything possible has been done that can be done lo make the i a success and to mure than uphold the verv line reputation which has been established by the management of these functions iii the past. The supper arrangements, i| lL . success or failure of which is held bv many to embrace the success or failure of'the ball itself, are in the hands of a splendid committee of ladies, and the music will be supplied bv an efficient orchestra. The fact that this is a military ball, with military men in their gayest of uniforms, should have some weight with lovers of spectacular effect.
