Following the above a lot of drapery was cleared, along with usual auction lines.
Fruit.—Fruit has been in short supply for the week past. Prices as follows; Oranges 0s Dd to 7s, repacked 7s 3d and 8s; bananas, poor, 4s 9d to 0s; apples, dessert, poor, 5s Od to 6s; pears?, halfcases 5s Od to Gs Od, eases 12s Cd; peanuts 2'/ 2 d lb, kumcras 4s Od case, quinces 3s to 3s Od. ' Furniture Sale.—On Monday we held a successful sale of household effects in Brougham-street on account of Mrs. Edwards. L. A. NOLAN AND CO.'S REPORT. Poultry.—On Saturday we had a good entry, over 200 birds being penned. There was good competition for all lines, especially for pullets and fat cockerels. We quote: Hens Is 3d to 2s 2d, pullets 2s 2d to 3s; cockerels, purebred 4s 9d each, ordinary Is 7d to 2s 8d; ducks Is 3d to 2s 3d; turkeys (large entry), hens 2s ftd to 3s Od, gobblers 4* Dd toYs Od. In the mart a large quantity of rattan furniture realised good prices. Sundries sold at usual rates. Fruit.—We quote: Bananas Os lid to 9s,.pears 4s to 5s Od, oranges 7s to 8s (id, quinces (small cases) lis to 3s Od; apples, bushels, Jonathans 7s to 7s Cd, Epp.r •Seedling 0s to 0s 9d, Stunners 8s to Os 3d, Cleopatras 8s to !)s, local (small eases) 3s 9d to 4s, 3d; passion fruit 3s 3d to 3ri 9d, pumpkins 4s Od ewt. NEW PLYMOUTH WOOL, HIDE, SKIN, AND TALLOW SALE. L. A. NOLAN AND CO.'S REPORT. We held our usual monthly sale of hides, sheepskins, wool, and tallow on Wednesday, 12th May, and; submitted a good average catalogue. New buyers were represented and competition 'was particularly keen, and everything was Cleared at full market rates'for quality submitted. Taken all round, cow hide's were inclined to ease per lb, while ox hides made a slight advance. There was a good enquiry for heavy ox suitalile for harness, but we had onlv l medium to offer. These sold at full 1 rates. Calfskins sold at late high rates. Wool and sheepskins sold at better rates I than last month, showing an advance all round Competition was particularly keen in this department.
