All iiu|n- is now abandoned of finding the occupants—a man miiui'ii Lightband mid ;i boy mimed Jackson. By Hie tragic death of Mr. Ci. W. W. Lightband, who was one of the victim* of the ennoe fatality at Tahuiia Instj week, the ranks of Xew Zealand's early | pioneers have been sadly depleted, states tile Xelson Colonist, llis fate was, unfortunately, shared hy his grand-nephew. The late Mr. Lightband was born in Worcester in 1834, and arrived in Xcison in 1842. In 1851 lie left for the Victorian goldlields, ami after many adventures returned to Xelson. About |lßlil Sir, LigliKband and some other gentlemen took a number of prominent Maoris to England. During the visit a command interview was given to linn by Hie late Queen Victoria. Mr. Lightband and Mrs. Lightband recently celebrated their golden wedding bv visiting relatives in various parts of Xew Zealand.
