SHORTAGE OP BRITISH IMPORTS. Received 17, 0.35 pjn. London, May 17. The meat trade section of the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, owing t» the shortage of the imports of American and Canadian cattle, urged the Government to forthwith remove the embargo on Argentinu cattle for immediate slaughter at the port of disembarkation. They emphasise that the past week'* supply of cattle at Birkenhead was but 800, compared with 5000 to 0000 weekly in 1000.
