A WAITARA FATALITY.

CYCLIST AXD CART COLLIDE. On Saturday afternoon a young man from Waitara was admitted to the hospital suffering from injuries received 'n u bicycle accident. He was attended by Dr. Lcathain soon alter admission, and was seen again by the medical superintendent in the evening. The man died shortly afterwards. The unfortunate man's name was given as Denis Redmond, and his age as twenty years. He was a laborer at Waitnra, and had been working lately with the Alaoris. He was a deserter from one of the Home liners which loaded recently in the Waitara roadstead, presumably the Buteshire. On Saturday afternoon he was cycling fast at Wai-tara-—some reports say he,was crossing the Waitara bridge—when he collided with the wheel of a tradesman's cart, which struck him on the lower left side of the chest and the upper portion of tlie abdomen. Ho was brought in to the Xew Plymouth Hospital, where it was found that his r ibs had been broken and he was suffering from severe internal injuries', which caused his death. Redmond had no relatives in Xew Zealand. The hospital authorities ascertained the address of his mother in Londoa. An inquest will be held this morning.
