Wellington, Friday, ■.i-i'ul consideration is being given ! ,hc Government to Hie police force with a view to maintaining its required efficiency upon the most economical ■basis. The expansion of the Dominion necessarily required increasing police protection. The increases have amounted on an average to £IOOO each year since 1904. If the Government is able while maintaining the necessary efficiency to make reductions in the present expenditure, it is its intention to reduce the average increase by at least fourfifths, or a reduction of about £IIOOO on the amount of the previous year.
