NEW PLYMOUTH CONCERT ABANDONED. Madame Melba had to cancel her New Plymouth concert last night, owing to a relaxed throat. Immediately upon deciding not to give the concert the sliitionmasters down the line as far as Hawera mere communicated with, and as'keil lo make the fact known to intending passengers by rail to New Plymouth. The public have not accepted the position too kindly, and allege that bigger bookiags might have cured the diva's throat. We have the express authority of the manager, Mr. Lemmone, for stating that but for the immense risk of singing under such conditions the concert would have been given. Ticketholders can have their money refunded 011 application at the box office. Among the disappointed one were a gentleman, his wife mid daughter, wbo drove thirty-live miles to attend the concert.

Madame Mi'llia and parly left for the north Inst night.
