OUTBREAK OF TYPHOID.
| AT ALKXAXDKA SOlTil. By Telegraph.—Pnss-Artsoewlmii, Dunedin, Last Xi*»-ht. An outbreak of typhoid fever is reported from Alexandra South. Vp to last Saturday two cases wore recorded. On .Monday two more patients were sent to the Dunklin Hospital. Since then three further eases have been reported, whilv a number of other residents are laid up with influenza at Clyde. v Also a ease of diphtheria has broken out, ami a similar ease at Karnselough. Tn consequence of tin* spread of typhoid. the Alexandra florough Council field a special meeting yesterday, when some -plain speaking was indulged in about the attitude of the Health Department. It was decided to wire to the health officer in Dunedin asking! thai stringent step* he immediately tak- 1 en' to investigate the cause of the outbreak, and tlie inspection of dairies by a stock inspector. Two inspectors were round all the local dairies, when it was discovered that people wore selling milk from unregistered dairies. The sale ot disinfectants has been brisk lately, and all the premises in Alexandra are undergoing a thorough cleansing.
