THE NORTHAMPTONSHIRE TOUR. London, May 11. The second match of the Australia:' cricket team's English tour, against Northamptonshire, was resumed in gl"'-'-ions weather. The Australians closed thei,- innings for 319 runs, after being four hours at the wickets to-day. The play was fast and interesting. NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. This morning Bardsley retired after adding a single to his overnight score. Bardsley gave a chance to Kingston in the same over in which he got l.b.w. to Thoinps'oii. His leg-side play was splendid. He was a hundred minutes at the I wicket, and made nine iourers. Cotter indulged as usual in a free game. Northampton's total passed over 150 minutes' play. Trumper's innings occupied ninety minutes, his half century appearing at the end of eighty minutes' sound, free cricket. He hit eight fourers, and fell in trying to pull Thompson to niid-on. Armstrong, with free, allround play, made 50 in fifty-nine minutes. During two hours at the creases' he gave no chancel. His score included eleven tourers'. The Trumper-Armstrong partnership lasted seventy-live minutes and added 100. NORTHAMPTONSHrRE.-,Sceond Innings. Steady effective play by Kingston, Heywood and Thompson carried the score to 110 before the third wicket fell. A smart catch by Carter disposed of Kingston in Macartney's' first over. Noble's first over proved ratal to Heywood. H e had a life when he had made one, Hartigan. second slip, missing a eatch off Cotter. Otherwise he played a sound innings. Eighty-five minutes' play was sufficient to wipe off the arrears of the firet innings. Carter showed excellent form. He got rid'of .Smith at the third attempt, and cleverly stumped Poole. Bardsley caught Thompson while running.
