AIIY BOCK'S MASQUERADING. \ MORE XX'IEHESTIXG LETTERS. \ In 1881 Amy Maud Bock, then in her ' seventeenth year, was engaged in the ' teaching profession at llazelhurst, in Gippsland, Victoria. At Oamaru (where'she had given the name of Ijnng), January, 18D4, false pretences; lour months. At Dunediii, September, 18' Jo, false pretences; three months. At Wellington, March, 1003 (where she had been passing under the name of Bennett), false pretences; two years' imprisonment on one charge and sis months' on the other. At Christchurch (under the name of Channel), forgery; three years. The prisoner was discharged on May 31, 1007. At Dunedin, in January last, a warrant was issued for her arrest for obtaining money bv false .pretences, but Miss Bock succeeded in eluding the vigilance of the police till a Iwv davs ago. WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHER. Accompanied 'by "his" mother-in-law-elect and intended bride, Percy Redwood recently visited the studio of Mr. Pattillo, in George-street, and, stating that he was to be married a week later, surrendered to the photographer, and separate pictures of the bride and bridegroom were taken. The proofs, which liad been forwarded to the Nuggets, were returned, accompanied by the subjoined note, in handwriting which might reasonably be presumed to have been penned by a man:— Nuggets, Port Molvneux. T.o her son she gave strict advice about engaging a firm of lawyers to act for him : And I will pay to them the amount of -£3500 I promised vou. Regarding the house you .wrote to me about, Mrs. Ottaway and T will go and see it when 1 eome down. And now, my darling boy. do not think for one moment that it is want of love for you and dear Nessie that has prevented mc being with you, but it is just as God has ordered tilings for us, so that, perhaps, they are not exactly what we should have wished for, but still, what Tie does is for (he best. 1 shall be at the Nuggets to meet you both on your return from Melbourne, and a glad and happy meeting if will lie. And now. my dear son and daughter that is to be, my God's best blessings attend you. and that He may guide yon lioth in all your ways is the pra'ver of your loving mother. Til a later letter she writes: Dear Carol—Your club has given me a most beautiful dinner service for you, the Fraser familv a lovely afternoon tea service, the Slmrland 'family a handsome overmantel: and there are a host of others.—Dunedin Star.
