MAORI ELECTION PETITION. Wellington, Tuesday. An electoral petition has been lodged by Pcpenc Ekctorc against th e election of Henar Kaihau as representative for the Western Maori electorate. The grounds of the petition are various alleged irregularities at the poll, such as the poll 'being held at places other than those gazetted, etc. The petition will be heard at Hamilton before two judges .of the Supreme Court on May 10. EMPLOYERS AND LABOR. Cliristchurch, Last Night. At a meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Employers' Association tonight, the following resolution was passed: "That the executive of the Association support the Advisory Board in its protest against any compulsion being brought to bear upon employers "which will deprive them of their right to select such labor as they deem best suited to their requirements, or which 'would interfere with the inherent right of every man' to earn his living hy his labor, unless lie first subscribes to the rules of the trade union to which he may have personal objection, and that this Association strongly urges upon every employer to oppose the inclusion of any preference clause in all awards and industrial agreements."
