In furtherance of its retrenchment scheme the Government has decided to retire two additional judges from the Native Land Court. FOCI. PLAY SUSPECTED. ■Auckland, April 20. Frederick John Hansen, aged 2r>, left his home at Kaikohe in January and rode to Whangarei, where he left his horse. Shortly after this he cashed cheques at the'bank in Auckland. Since then all trace of him has been lost. His relatives are alarmed, and fear he may have met with foul play. 1 EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS. Foililing, April 2(1. Two sharp earthquake shocks were felt here at 10.24 o'clock on Saturday night. Elthuiu, April 2(1. A fairly'sharp shock of earthquake was experienced here about 10.30 on Saturday night. RAILWAY APPEAL BOARD. Wanganui. Monday. The North Island liailwav Appeal Board is silting here. The'first ease was an appeal from Alfred Watson, late guard at Waiouru. Evidence was given thai the statiunmuster claimed nil the railway platform of a dereliction of dulv on the part of the guard, which led'to words, as a result of which the stationmaster suspended him. The question turns on whether the work the guard was a»Ued to do, cleaning points, and station public conveniences, was a guard's work. I
