QUELLING THE RECENT TROUBLES. Auckland, Thursday. A proclamation issued by Dr. Golf, Governor of German Samoa, relating to the disaffected chiefs, states that they arc to be deported with their relatives to Lipan Island, in the Caroline Group; that in the six islands over which they had ruled, no new appointments would be made for one year; all guns and ammunition must lie surrendered to the German authorities, and the head of every family must pay a tax of thirty marks in addition to ordinary tax of twelve marks. The Governor lays stress On the lenient treatment meted out to them, and expresses the hope that it will be appreciated by the loyal natives.
