JUDGE SIM AND CONCILIATION
AX IMPORTANT INTIMATION. By Telegraph.—Presa Association. ■Auckland, Wednesday. In Die Arbitration Court, Mr. Justin' Sim gave judgment in the case in which t!u» bote! umi restaurant employees asked fur an award. His Honor said the employees refused to discuss the matter before tin Conciliation Council or to assist ill bringing aliout a friendly settlement of the di-rutc. The question was whether the (Hurt in these circumstances should proceed further with the dispute. The technical demands of the law had l"v;i eomplied with, but the Court had power to refuse to make an awnr.l. The most important provisions of the recent legislation were those dealing with conciliation, and tile Court would not allow thvm to be treated as a dead letter. The present application would be di.-mis-cd. and not until the Conciliation Council had failed to settle the case would the Court hear the dis- | putc. This course would lie adopted in all similar cases.
