FIRE BRIGADE

The annual meeting of the Xew plymouth File Brigade was held iu the Central Fire Station last night, Superintendent Bellringer presiding over a good attendance of members.

The Superintendent presented his annual report mi the working of I lie vear. There had been i.nlv seven calls iii the twelve months. Two of these, on the occasions of the fires at th" Jubilee liunrilinghouse and the Taranaki Herald, were of a more serious nature than for some years past. The continued interest displayed by members in the working of the brigade was very commendable. The membership stood at 20, with live auxiliaries. Flight men were now resident at the Central Station. There had been ;il musters, and the average attendance had been 22. The members' average term of service was lo'/ K years. The plant was in lirist-class order. Following the usual custom, with the kind assistance of the ladies of Xew I'lviuuulh innlcr Ihe presidencr of .Mrs. Dockrill. the ball was held, and from the proceeds the brigade's funds had been kept balanced.
