The native conference at Uuntly todnv terminated in mi apparent solution of' the land problems which have concerned Ihi'.Waiknto tribes for many years. The proposals submitted to the Ministers in attendance, with regard to the allocation of 700,0011 acres of land reported on by the Native Land Commission, were agreed, to. as was also a suggestion for the use of funds derived from the sale of noma lands to re-pur-chase certain areas at Xgauruhoe and Te Kuiti for village Settlement purposes. The question as to whether the lands proposed to be leased .and sold should he administered by the Native Land Hoards or a native committee proved too vexed a one, however, for settlement olMia:id. and the leaders of the natives agreed to go into committee for further-consideration. The result was eminently satisfactory. King Maluita announcing this afternoon that his people were agreeable to the lands set aside for European settlement being administered by the Boards at present constituted, with the provision that the proposed native committee should act in an advisory capacity. Provision would be made for landless natives, and even-thing, including the administration 'of the dog-tax, would be placed ill the hands of the Native Minister. The lion. J. Can-oil (Native Minister) and the Hon. Mr. Ngata. who attended the conference, left by the Main Trunk express for Wellington to-night.
