THE BOROUGH ELECTIONS

As the outcome of Mr. E. Dockrill's recent criticism of the borough streets administration, a requisition is in course of circulation asking him to oorae forward as a candidate for the representation of the east ward on the borough council. Yesterday a reporter gathered that the requisition bore over a hundred signatures. Mr. Dockrill will hardly be able to assure the deputation in change of the pape. mat he has "been taken completely by surprise;" for the cat's out of the bag. The requisitionists do not contemplate a refusal of the request. A requisition will also be presented on Monday to Mr F. E. Wilson to stand for the east ward. Mr Wilson served a very useful term on the Council a few years ago. Mr. .T. W. Boon having determined not to become a candidate in the event of a contest, *ibeast ward vacancies arc likely to lie filled, bv Messrs Fred Bellrihger, E. Docfeill! and F. E. Wilson. j Mr H. Stocker has been requested by several ratepayers to offer siis services as councillor for the central ward. Mr. A. E. Watkins will be a candidate, and very probably Mr. Geo. Bishop. For the west ward there will be four candidates. Messrs G. W. Browne and H. R. Cattley seek i e-election. Messrs H. J. Gilbert and J. F. Hooker will contest the election. Three are required.
