THE TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Taranaki Hockey Association was to have been •held on Thursday evening. The delay of the mail train prevented many of the southern delegates from attending, and it was decided to postpone the meeting until Thursday, April 15th. The following is the annual report to be presented:—"The season has been a marked improvement on previous years and the game is increasing in popularity. One new club, the Kia Ora of Inglewood, joined the Association, and shaped very well. It is very creditable to Inglewood to supply two teams and for them to attain the'position they did. The shield was won by the Inglewood Club. During the season we were visited by three representative teams, two of which beat ns, namely, Canterbury and Wellington. The third, Hawkes Bay, beaten by our representatives. The visiting teams desire a visit from our representatives during the forthcoming season, and several other centres ave anxious that we should visit is hoped every cfTort will be made to do so. A referees' association is required, and it is hoped that an effort will be. made to form one. The balance-sheet shows a deficiency of 13s 4d, due chiefly to the unfavourable weather when tnc Canterbury-Taranaki match was played. The total receipts were £25 llis, and the expenditure £2O !)s 4d. Thanks are due to our worthy president, who has assisted us in entertaining visiting teams, and for his assistance to the club." The balance-sheet showed receipts including balance 3s (id; club's fees, I' l ' (is; president's donation, £2 2>; proceeds from dance, X 1 2s; gate proceeds, £l3 14s (id; expenditure including advertising £i 12s lid; New Zealand Association's subscription and rule books, tl .">s (id; material, C-l Is 4d; labour, CI Ills: guarantee, Canterbury Association, ,C 5; drags, CS 10s. The Association's secretary informs us that the Inglewood Club will probably have two teams in the championship competition, making three teams from that town.
