The Easter holidays commenced mtl a violent northerly gale, making all out door gatherings extremely unpleasant The principal attractions are the loea bowling tournament and iuter-universili tennis and athletic tournaments. The principal local attraction 011 Easter Monday will be the Caledonian Sports in the Recreation Grounds, for which tlie most complete arrangements have been made. The afternoon train is delayed to leave New Plymouth at twenty minutes past five o'clock. Tho Xgamotu Golf Club's tournament will proceed right through the holidays. Tlie Patea Racing Club holds its annual races un Monday. This year the meeting will be held on the Eginont Club's course at Hawera, which should ensure a bigger attendance tli-un the Pa tea races have ever known. Several picnics' of a more or less private nature are arranged. On Monday night tne New Plymouth Caledonian Society's first annual smoke conoert will be held in the Broughamstreet Hall The Recreation Grounds Board's display of fireworks has again been postponed on account of the absence of the Garrison Band at the Easter volunteer manoeuvres.
