DISTRICT NEWS.
WAKEA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting of the Warea library committee was held in the library on Saturday evening to arrange about purchasing a, number of new books. It was decided to obtain books to the value of £lO. The new purchases ■Jmulil add greatly "to the library, which now contains over six hundred books. The local cricket club has arranged to play the Carringloii ltoad cricketers at Waster. Our team should be a fairly solid one.
-Monday was the coldest day we have had for a long time. A cold south-oast wind, with heavy ruin, started during the night of Sunday, and continued all day Monday and all' that night, without a break. The cold rain did a great deal of harm to the supply of milk. The meeting of shareholders of the local factory, called for Monday nighl to consider the cheese question did not (•ventilate owing to the terrible climatic conditions, only the chairman turning out.
