FIRE BOARD.
A meeting of tile New Plymouth Fire Board was held on Monday, Present: Jlessrs. Dockrill (chairman), Collis, (J. E. Jiellringer, (Jorkill, i'aton, and !•'. licllringer (spuerintendent of the local Fife Brigade).
The secretary reported a balance of £133 15s 2d. Superintendent Bellringer's report 011 fires occurring during the quarter was read. This showed that there had been four fires, the total damage amounting to CKI2S. Of this IVW2 was not covered by insurance.
It- was decided to point •ut to the Korough Council the danger caused by permitting portable steam engines to be used in proximity in the Theatre Royal; also that ihe authorities of St. Mary's ('htirch have their attention drawn to the fact that on Sunday last chairs were placed in the aisles* of the church, which blocked i)]) the passages, thereby consi iluting a breach of their license. It was also resolved that the Horoug-ii Council he asked to negotiate with suburUm bodies to lormiilatc some scheme on a satisfactory footing for utilising the services of the brigade in their .several districts.
