WAITARA. (From Our Oivn Correspondent.) A wry fair house greeted tlie local Amateur Theatrical Society on Saturday night la-st, when "Jane" was again put on before the Waitara public. The acting was a decided improvement on the previous .staging of this farce. The. successful tenderer for tile additions to the Waitara Hotel is Mr. H. W. Bond, of New Plymouth. It is with regret that the resignation of Miss Edwards, of the local State School, is received. This lady has been amongst us for the last twelve years, and during that time has made herself beloved by many children as well as' parents, and her absence will be greatly felt in the community. Mr. A. T. Lake, of the Club Hotel, lias donated two guineas to the Waitara Cricket Club.
Captain Pope, of the Waitara Rifle Volunteers, is to be congratulated on big success in passing his examination as captain in the N.Z. Defence Forces. The many friends of Mrs. G. V. Tate will be glad to learn that she is improving in health, and will ir.i a lew weeks' time be able to leave the hospital if the improvement continues.
