Ey Telegraph.—-I'rcss Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The "Chronicle" to-morrow morning says: " Wc learn 011 what we have every reason to believe is good authority that there is every prospect of a strike of coal miners on a large scale taking place in the near future. Our informant states that for some time past there has been considerable unrest among imincrs 011 the West Coast; that a niuu.ber of agitators are busily at work, and that everything is practically in readiness for the call. It is further stated that mine-owners are. alive to the position, and are taking combined action to meet the threatened emergency. Our informant further alleges that all the elements of one of the most serious industrial upheavals the Dominion has yet experienced are centred ill the movement now in progress, and that, unless wiser counsels prevail, a crisis entailing serious loss upon the workers and extending far beyond the milling industries is practically inevitable.
