MAKEXAWA. One evening last tfeek, wmie two small children, aged seven and eight respectively, were walking aloug Mountain Road, they were accosted by a young man (or lunatic ?), who brandished a knife and threatened to massacre them. Naturally, the children were very 'frightened, but the mild young man, 1 elated by the success of his joke, went on his way rejoicing. It seems a pity that such bloodthirsty ruffians should be allowed to roam at large—they would be more at home in a padded cell at Porirua or sonic institution of that kind. On Friday next, March 2tith, a party, of boys from the Norfolk lioad school intend visiting the Momohaki State Farm. They leave lnglewood by tlie mail train in the morning, and return by the mail Uain in the evening. Messrs. R. E. Thomas (headmaster) and 11. Xriiuble will be in charge of the party. The factory teats at Maketawa for the week ending March 22nd range from to 4.9, and of the fifty-eight suppliers fifty-six have tests of 4.0 and over.
