BREACH OF ELECTORAL ACT
CAxNDIDATE COMMITTED EOK TKIAL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Gisborne, Monday. The case against 11. E. Darton! a candidate at the recent second ballot of the general election, was resumed this morning. Defendant was charged with having paid money on account of hire of vehicles for conveyance of electors. The Crown, Prosecutor intimated tb.<vt, signed receipts for cab hire had been sent in with accused's vouchers 'claiming .toO allowed to second ballot candidates.
Counsel lor the defendant said lie was prepared to admit that electors were carried in carriages. His Worship said admissions could not be taken on account of the offence being an indictable one.
