TO A BRIDE OF 70. CURIOUS CASE BEFORE AUCKLAND COURT. Auckland, March 17. It is not not often that a man of 84 and a woman of seventy enter into a matrimonial compact, hut such a case was before -Mr C. C. Kettle, S.M., at the Police Court this afternoon. Alice Dickey ■proceeded against Patrick Dickey, her husband, for failing to maintain lier, while Patrick Hickey proceeded against Alice Hickey for alleged assault, and asked that she be bound over to keep the peace towards him for twelve mouths. Patrick ilickev was stated to be 84 years of age, anil his wife about 70. Tliev hud been married only since August last. The husband, it was alleged, hail represented that he had 1200 in the saving bank and a mortgage of £SOO over some properly. A month after the marriage Hickey "cleared out," saying that he was going to Rolorua for his health. Evidence was given by Mrs Hickey to the effect that she was now unable to support herself owing to failing eyesight. She denied ever having assaulted Hickey. After hearing Hie evidence His Worship refused to make an order for maintenance, as the old man had nothing, and the application to have Mrs Hickey bound over to keen <W peace was adjourned Mik- die. to be brought on at tweutv-four hours' notice.
