AMUSEMENTS.

CLEMENS' WRAGGE. Considering the wretched weather conditions, tlhere was u, very fair attendance at the Theatre Royal last evening to tear iMr. Clement Wragge's lecture, "A # Voyage through the Universe." A very interesting and highly instructive lecture, profusely illustrated -with, photographs of the heavenly bodies, >was gives. The photos were taken in the leading observatories of the world, and are particularly helpful to the audience in understanding the remarks of the lecturer, who held the undivided interest of his audi.encfc from start to finish. Although dealing with an abstruse subject, and one with which has heaters were almost entirely unfamiliar, the lecturer mada TuaKelf perfectly understood. Mr. Wiragge's illustrations and thrilling description of the "milky way" enlightened the audience as to the minuteness oi our earth, •which was shown to be bub like a little grain of sand to a mountain compared with the millions of constellations 4a space. The- slides illustrating the sun, with its sun spots and storms, formed not the least interesting feature of the lecture, as did tire illustrated description of the sun in eclipse. The lecturer showed how seasons could 'be foretold, and stated Australia was to have a season of drought, which would not, however, be as severe as the former one. New Zealand would not be greatly affected, but all the same ,we were to experience a falling-off in ,oUr rainfall. The lecture was concluded .by a series of "beautiful films of the .moon and remarks on the moon's in.ftuence on our globe. 'A't the conclusion of the entertainment, Mr. Wragge exMbited specimens ot radium, which proved of much interest to those privileged to see them. To-uiglit Mir. Wragge will give at lecture on "The Majesty of Creation." •
