A GIUTEFUL INMATE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Sunday. Some most ungrateful and ungenerous criticisms have recently been levelled against tile management of the Salvation Army Home, at l'akatoa Island, bv ex-inmates who have failed to appreciate the efforts made 011 their behalf. An old man who lias just returned from 12 months' stay on the island, and who wears the Baltic medal, anil has seen lengthy service in the navy, was most indignant with tilose who had made complaints. "A kinder lot of men than those in charge, I have never met," he said. '• 1 should have spent some of the happiest months of mv life there if it had not been for the growlers, though tiley were not quite .so bad during the last six months." The food, he said, was always abundant, and of the very best, and he ■was very grateful for having been sent there.
