MR LLOYD GEORGE.
LIBELLED BY NEWSPAPERS. London, March 12. The paper People apologised and agreed to pay £.IOOO damages for libelling Mr. Lloyd George (Chancellor of the Exchequer). The allegation was that Mr. Lloyd George paid twenty thousand pounds to prevent his being sued in a divorce suit. The paper Bystander apologised and paid £3OO to charity in connection with a similar libel. A COMPLETE APOLOGY. Received 14, 4.30 p.m. London, March 13. Counsel for the newspaper People tendered an unqualified apology and accepted Mr, Lloyd-George's terms. Mr. Lloyd-George, in the witness-box, said there was not the slightest foundation for any of the statements made by the People. The Judge said he considered Mr. Lloyd-George had acted with extreme moderation.
