KEMOVING A MISALTKEIiENSION T . By Telegraph.—Press Association. Welliugtou, Thursday. The president ami secretary of the New Zealand Association interviewed the Minister for Labor today in reference to the half-holiday question. It was pointed out that at the municipal elections >.\ poll of electors would be taken on the question of whether the weekly hall-holiday for shops should be on Wednesday or on Saturday.
A great many people were under the impression that if Wednesday was agreed on it would meau that factories and warehouses would have to close on that day. That, of course, was not so» but shopkeepers were auxious that the public should be under no misapprehension on- the .subject, it was also stated that in the majority ol cases shopkeepers found that Saturday was the best business day, aud that much harm would be done if Saturday were carried.
The Minister xcpliinl thai the reniovtl of <iny misapprehension on the par,t of the public would depend very mucili on the eiioi'ts of the shopkeepers themselves. Ho had a lot of sympathy with the small shopkeeper, and if he could do anything to remove the misapprehension he wouUl be glad (to do it.
