CONTESTS TOR LADIES AND CIULS. Ladies and girls entered well for tlie races at municipal baths yesterday evening, for which prizes hail been presented iby Mr. CI. Tisch, and a very pleasant evening's sport was the result. The 'officers were as follow:—Judges, Messrs. G. Tisch and J. C. Morcy; handicappcr, Mr. F. 6. Morris; starter, M.r A. C. Ulaxwcll. Kesults:— • 50 Yards (girls 12 and under)—H. Jury paec.) 1, X. Kea (3sec.) 2. ■ 00 Yards (girls U and under)— X. jCrozier (scr.) 1, E, White (3scc) 2. CO Yards (girls 10 and under)—E. rWhite (ssee.) 1, X. Crozier (scr.) 2. 00 Yards (ladies 10 and over)—E. •Bundle (4sec.) 1, A. Peterson (scr.) 2. There was some splendid diving as follows: Two dives off springboard and one from cliute—J. Thomson 1, E. ltundle E. Mrs. Furlong's special prize for the Becond-best dive was won by E. White. All present expressed their delight at the thoughtfulnesa of Mr. Tisch in donating the prizes and prompting the meeting, and with the capital arrangements made by the officials. Mr. James Smith, of the Imperial Hotel, has again this year presented the New Plymouth Swimming Club with a gold medal for the annual club cham|>Eo]i«hi|i. This season the distauce is to be 100 yards and will be decided at tihe baths on Wednesday next, 17th mst. Entries will be received up to that day. Friday night will be the weekly practice night.
