MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
At the usual civil sittings, before Sir. If. S. Kitzherbert, S.M., yesterday morning, judgment was entered by d'efault iu the following eases:—L. P. Nathan and Co, v. H. 11. Bryant, claim X 0 12s Gd and costs XI lis fid; J. W. Kurta and Co. v. L. 0. Wood, claim Us, costs 15s; New Zealand Express Co. v. D. IT. Rait, claim £4 Gs. and costs 10s; A. H. Herbert v. Arch. Mnrr. claim £2 18s ]od, and costs 10s. In the judgment summons Mse White and Sons v. W. Rowley, which had been adjourned to allow the judgment debtor to make an effort to liquidate the debt of XI Ss lOd. the debtor was ordered to pay the i'ull amount within two weeks, in default seven days' imprisonment.
Archie Hooker sued .lames Bruce for £(i, the price of constructing concrete posts and steps at defendant's residence at Bulteel Street. Mr. F. E. Wilson appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. C. IT. Weston for the defence. Several hours twero occupiied in the hearing, the defence heing that the work was not according to contract. Law points "Were raised by Mr. Weston, and the S.M. reserved his decision.
