GOOD TEMPLAR LODGE.
FAREWELL XO BRO. J. C. LEG I!
The members of the Good Templars Lodge met in St. Mary's Hall last night to bid farewell to their late Chief Templar, Hro. <!. C. l^ , gg > who with his family leaves shortly on a trip to England, thief Templar Hro. J. lliggs presided.
The ehairimtii said they were unanimous 4 in feeling deep regret at li"o. 1-egg's departure. Willi Mrs. Legg anil family lie had identified himself with the interests of the lodge, and its success was due to Hro. Legg's long experience. Tiiey felt that they could not let him depart without showing some appreciation.
Sister White, Vice-Templar, also spoke iu eulogistic- terms of the good work done by Hro. Legg and his family, and assured them that the Lodge would bo glad to welcome them back again. The chairman then presented Hro. Legg with an address ill the following terms:—"To Hro. J. C. Legg, P.C.T. Dear llrother —We, the members of the Egniont Lodge, Xo. 112, of the International Order of Good Templars, desire, on the eve of your departure from Xew Zealand, to express our regret at the severance of our association, aud al.-n our appreciation of tile very active interest which you, with Sirs. Legg and family, have always displayed in the affairs of our Order. We also feel assured that wherever you make your home, you will he found in the front ranks of the noble army of temperance workers. The efficiency with which you have discharged the duties of Chief Templar during ten terms of office has largely conduced to the present prosperous condition of our lodge. The liberal hospitality which you, with Mrs. Legg, have on many occasions extended to the lodge has also done much to foster the social spirit amongst us, and we shall never forget the many happy evenings we have spent in company with yourself and family. In wishing you farewell, therefore, we desire to convey to you our heartiest good wishes for the welfare and happiness of yourself, Mrs. Legg and family, and should you at any future time return to New Zealand we assure you of a very hearty welcome to our midst." Tichner, M.; Ada Thome, Chap.; Charles Ullmer, G.; Reg. Sole, S.; Olive Cock, A.S.; Annie Loesch, D.M.; M. Street, Reg.; Hilda Thome, organist; W. Bransgrove, librarian. Hro. Legg thanked the members for •their kind wishes. He had thought lie was played out as far as the lodge was concerned, but after the chairman's remarks he was inclined to think differently. He hoped the lodge would prosper. A lot of good would come from a lodge of the kind.
The following musical programme was rendered during the evening:—'Violin solos, Miss Dowling; recitations, Messrs. F. Hartnell and M. Scott; song, Bro. J. Iliggs; harp solo, Bro. Rickett. Re* fresluncnts were provided hi liberal style by Bro. and Sis. (Mrs.) Legg, to whom a heartv vote of thanks was accorded. They "were asked to convey the greetings of Egmont Lodge to any lodge or lodges they might visit.
