TIIE FORREST HALL WRECK, By Telegraph.—Press Association, Wellington, Ijitt Night, A magisterial enquiry will be held at Auckland shortly concerning the wreck of the ship Forrest Hall, HYDRAULIC MINING. The secretary to the Aroha Syndicate •wishes a correction to the Press wire sent out on Friday night to the effect that a persistent refusal has been made by the Mines Department to puss the water-power regulations. It is stated the Government never refused, and only on the 4th inst a telegram was received from the Minister of .Mines that regulations were under consideration. The syndicate has not made nnv complaint ill the matter, and is quite content to await the Government's decision over tho matter. The subject is of special importance to this district, where several schemes all'eeting highly promising hydraulic mining developments are alloal. When power rights are granted they will lead to a great forward movement in mining in Westland, and, it is hoped, to the return of the prosperity which markiid the early days of tlife West Coast.
