: HOTEL BURNED DOWN. J3j Telegraph.—Press Association. Aueklaud, Last Night. The hotel at Takapuaa was completely destroyed by lire this afternoon. The Imilding,' which was erected 25 jyars ago, was built of wood and contained some fifty rooms. It -was owned by the Campbell. Ehrcnfricd Company, the licensee, why had been in possession only throe weeks, being Mr. I' - . T. Lipgiomhe. The stock and furniture were insured for £IOOO in the- United Company, but the loss is estimated at least i£l3oo. The building was insured for l£2ooo ill the New ZeaUrad office. It is. supposed the Ore was due to a spark from a defective chimney. There were no boarders at the hotel at the time of the fire.
; SCHOOL HOI'SE DESTROYED. .. Dunedin, Last • The Springvale school house, near Alexandra, was destroyed by fire at 2.30 a.nt on Saturday. The outbreak was discovered by m™ working oa tlio Oerig dredge, but when they arnvcJ on the scene the building was doomed. The mMnof the outbreak is not known. TtoTteacher was away at the time and S I number oi valuable books and Other articles.
