SWIMMING

TO-DAY'S CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. The West Coast championship swimming meeting is to lie held this afternoon at the New Plymouth municipal saltwater baths. Swimmers are competing from all parts of the Dominion, and the entries include leadrng men from Hie big centres. All the races have filled well, and some line contests should lie witnessed. In addition to the championship events there is a number of handicap and novelty events. An efficient orchestra will be hi attendance and will plav throughout te afternoon. Refreshments will lie obtainable at lihe, baths. This promises to be the finest 'gathering of swimmers yet brought about in New Plymouth, and there should be a good attendance of the public, for whose accommodation the com mittec has made every arrangement possible. The sports commence at 1.30 p.m. Hawera, Wanganui. and other com petltora arrived by the mail train last might, and the Stratford contingent will come in this morning.
