WHITELEY SUNDAY SCHOOL
ANNIVERSARY MEETING. The annual and anniversary meeting of the Whiteley Sunday. School was held yesterday. A public tea was. the programme at li o'clock in the evening, and the evening meeting opened at 7.30 in the church. Mr. C. Carter, suerintendcnt, presided. The. secretary's annual report was submitted, showing that steady progress had been made during the year. The teachers, the report stated, hud been very regular in attendance, and the average, as regards both teachers and scholars, was high. The 'tablet inspectors' report was also submitted, .showing live interest was being taken in both the oral and written work. The librarian's report showed that there were 320 volumes in the libIrary, and. tluit a number of books had 'been sent to children in the backblocks, 'where they were much appreciated. The j 'prsciitation of prizes (112) followed. The dux medals were presented to Hem; 'McCalicy and Leo BUllott, medal bars being presented to Gladys Brookes and 'Florric Avann, who last year won the ■medals, and again obtained highest marks this year. The statement of the treasurer showed that £SB had. been received during the year and £54 expended, 'Mrs. Douglas' report in connection with the infant department showed that there were now over 100 names on the cradle roll, and that some 70, with an average attendance of between 50 and GO, were in regular attendance.
