It was said, "\ou can t raise any revenue from Customs duties and have free trade." People who tatked in this, way did not understand the subject. Revenue duties and iree trade were not at all antagonistic, and " the purpose of the motion 'was to show ' this clearly to the public. Mr. Maxwell i seconded the motion, which was carried.

Mr. J. .Davidson moved: That this : exeeultivi! would strongly urge the Advisory 'Hoard to ask tin* authorities to have thoroughly qual.ilifd veterinary surgeons appointed as stock inspectors, as' the amount- of valuable stock--horses, entitle, sheep,, pigs, etc.—which was. lost for want .of skilled advice was verv large; a, reasonable fen to he ■charged owners of slock attended when iho vets.' services are professionally f railed in. In support of the motion ,Mr. Davidson .said there was very great difficulty in many districts in obtaining the 'services .of a <|ualilled veterinary nurgeon. In this district people had to .send 'to Wanganui for a good vet., and this meant delay in dealing with the disease, and- in many wises the animals died in i Ihe meantime. Mr. Lambie seconded the motion, which was carried. PAPER MONEY. Mr. Allhusen moved: That the executive draw the attention of the Advisory Hoard to the statement made, by the lion. Mr. Hogg (that he would support the issue of a- paper currency, and hope iliey 'will see that the, subject improperly watched. Mr. Murray seconded the motion, which was carried. ANNUAL PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE I The date of the annual provincial conference was fixed for 'Wednesday. 10th May, and, if necessary, Thursday. 20Hi. The conference "will be held at iStratiord.
