MEETING IN WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ' Wellington, Last Night. A meeting to consider tho question of [ unemployed was held in the Town Hail ; this evening, the Mayor presiding. A motion was passed protesting against the continuance of the assisted immigration policy, and requesting the Government to make known in Great Britain the present, overcrowded state of the labor market.. Also, as a means of relieving the difficulty, the Government be requested topush on the construction of publicworks already authorised throughout the Dominion. It was also resolved! that as a menus of providing employment and relieving the congestion im the cities, the Government be requested: to inaugurate an up-to-date land development policy, pushing on roading auii fencing, and otherwise improving vacant t'vown lands, thus providing a mora, sji.tisl'aiiory busw of land eettlemei*, and giving added employment to t)' ie people.
